Zum 20. Jahrestag der deutschen Einheit bin ich durch Ostdeutschland gefahren: in Berlin besuchte ich unter anderem die Gedenkstätte Hohenschönhausen und das Stasimuseum in der Normannenstraße in Lichtenberg. Ich war in Leipzig, wo die friedliche Revolution ihren Anfang nahm und in der beliebtesten DDR-Urlaubsdestination Usedom und in Anklam, die Stadt, mit der höchsten Arbeitslosenquote Deutschlands. Aber auch in Erfurt, wo die Firma X-FAB in der Halbleiterherstellung wirtschaftliche Erfolge feiert.
On the 20th anniversary of German unity, I drove through East Germany: in Berlin I visited the Hohenschönhausen Memorial and the Stasi Museum on Normannenstrasse in Lichtenberg. I was in Leipzig, where the peaceful revolution began, and in the most popular GDR holiday destination Usedom and in Anklam, the city with the highest unemployment rate in Germany. But also in Erfurt, where the company X-FAB is celebrating economic success in semiconductor production.
